Healthy Ecosystem,

Healthy Fishery,

Healthy Community

SIASS is a grass roots, community-based, registered non-profit society set up to facilitate communication and planning among watershed stakeholders including local individuals, organizations, and government agencies involved in fisheries related work in the region of Southern Vancouver Island and adjacent marine areas.

About

Conserve, restore, protect and actively participate in managing aquatic ecosystems of Southern Vancouver Island.

Projects

Endangered Southern Resident Orcas Our most recent project is to solicit Federal and Provincial funding to promote "Chinook Salmon" enhancement and habitat restoration to secure the only food source for endangered Southern Killer Whales.

Funding

SIASS has worked with a variety of funding partners including the Province and the Feds. With little funding available for Aquatic Stewardship of late, SIASS is calling for the new NDP Government to renew its former commitment to BC fish habitat and education.

Get Involved

If you are concerned about the endangered Southern Killer Whale Pods, salmon, salmon habitat and education and would like to get involved please give us a call and we will let you know the best way to contribute.

SIASS submits letter to

The Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, to support Southern Resident Killer Whales by contributing funding to enhance chinook populations.

SIASS asks Premier John Horgan to consider a model for "Salmon Habitat Stewardship" similar to that of his predecessors "Fisheries Renewal Program".

Latest Project

If you are interested in helping SIASS to help the Southern Killer Whale Pods, contact us and sign up to become a member to strengthen our request for the Federal and Provincial Governments to contribute resources toward protecting their only food source "Chinook Salmon". Thanks.
